May Bank Holiday Days Out Ideas

The sun is finally here and let's hope it stays that way. The first May Bank Holiday is this weekend and I always love finding a good day out to enjoy with the kids. Wowcher has some amazing activities and days out ideas, which are updated all the time with new deals. 

I thought I would share some of my favourite ideas for a weekend out with the family:

1. Bredgar & Wormshill Light Railway tickets - Get Deal

There are 6 dates available and one of them is this Sunday 4th May 2025 on the Bank Holiday. You can enjoy unlimited steam train rides. Travel through beautiful woodlands full of wild bluebells and travel from Warren Wood to Stony Shaw in Kent. You can explore the Engine Shed and vintage displays and for tractor loving kids, there is a tractor and trailer ride. Afterwards pop into the Station Tea room and grill for lunch. Tickets for an adult and child are £19. 

2. Foodies Festival - Get Deal

There are plenty of dates for over the Summer and weekends. There are dates for this weekend in Brighton. It is the UK's biggest celebration of food and drink. Each festival has a chart topping musical act including Pixie Lott, Blue, The Wanted, etc. There are rides, top chefs, kids kitchen and more. A family ticket costs only £39. 

3. Grand Designs Live London - Get Deal


This popular event returns from 2-5 May at the Excel in London. This show brings the ultimate home and garden inspiration with expert advice. Kevin McCloud will select his top Green Heroes. You can also get a look behind the scenes with some of the designers from the show. Perfect event if you love the TV show. Tickets are from £7.50. 

4. John Lawson's Circus - Get Deal


Love a circus, then this is the perfect evening out. They have availability for this Friday 2nd May at Hailsham in East Sussex. This is the perfect family friendly night out. A thrilling live show with immersive experiences and comfortable seating. Tickets are £15 for an adult & child. 

5. Axe throwing experience - Get Deal

You can practice your axe throwing skills for an hour with two locations in Kent & Sussex. Tickets are from £14.50 for 2 people. This is a fun activity for all skill levels and a great bonding experience. Such a unique activity to share with your friends and family. 

6. Monopoly Afternoon Tea Bus - Get Deal

An afternoon tea experience with an on-board digital game of Monopoly. This is an immersive version of the game board for fun with all the family and friends. Experience London while playing the game. The tour last 1 hour and a half and has various departure times. Tickets are from £37 which covers the tour, afternoon tea, sightseeing experience and the immersive game.
