Kent Family Days Out

Living in Kent. there are so many places to explore and visit. I thought I would do a quick round up of some of our recent days out to give some inspiration if you are looking for a fun day out. These are child friendly days out.

1. Knole Park

A part of the National Trust, this is a beautiful picnic spot. There are wild deer and wildlife to spot while you stroll through the most breath-taking landscapes and scenery. We took a little picnic with us and found a quiet spot to have a bite to eat and watch the wildlife pass us by. This area is in the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The park is 43 acres and Knole House sits within here along with around 350 deer. Visit here for more information.

2. Dymchurch

A beautiful sandy beach on the Kent coast. Plenty of fun family attractions nearby with their fairground rides, amusement centre and fish & chips. A great day out at the beach for all the family. Perfect beach for building sandcastles. There is also the Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch railway that you can visit. There is also the beach promenade to stroll along if the tide has come in.

3. Little Fant Farm

A little farm with a beautiful tea barn and a few farm animals to see with free entry and parking. They have pigs, geese, chickens, goats and horses. They even run a little farmers club in the week for toddlers and host the odd event. The tea barn serves handmade cakes and pasties. A lovely little farm to take your picnic along to and see some animals. Perfect for little ones as not too much walking and some old tractors to see and play on. Visit here for more information.

4. Bredgar & Wormshill Railway

A beautiful day out for those who love a wholesome family day and steam trains. It is a provate line with was built as a hobby by a group of friends. There is the stations, steam engine shed and workshops. The trains are open to the public on the first Sunday of the month with event days. Most Wednesdays they are open in the summer months too. On event days they have steam roller displays, tractor rides, and an old American fire engine. There is also a beautiful little tea room with freshly made sandwiches and cakes and a spot in the woods for a picnic.

They currently have offers on their tickets Here Use code HOH10 for another 10% off plus use site wide.

5. Greatstone

Another beautiful sandy beach not far along the coast from Dymchurch. Perfect as a little bit quieter as no big attractions. We love spending the day at the beach here and then heading to Dymchurch on the way back for a spot of amusement arcades and hot doughnuts. It is a good spot for watersports and there is long stretches of sandy beach. It is also a safe spot for swimming so perfect for families.
