Haircare Routine in Lockdown

So it's safe to say my hair has seen much better days. We are still in our third National Lockdown and the hairdresser feels like a distant memory. I was due to have a hair appointment the week before my baby girl was due so I decided against it and postponed the appointment. I am hoping hairdressers and beauty salons will be able to open again soon (scheduled for April 12th, so fingers crossed) as not only does my hair need looking at, but I also feel devastated for those struggling financially due to this World crisis.

I usually visit the hairdresser about every 12 weeks and usually get a full head of highlights, Toner and a cut & blow-dry. All I can say, is at present my roots are wild! I wanted to write this post about the amazing products I have been using during lockdown. They have been my saviours in keeping my hair nourished, conditioned and somewhat manageable. Obviously using bleach makes your hair dry so I have been investing in some products and time, to keep my hair looking as healthy as possible. Not only that but I have also had my baby so feared the dreaded post partum hair loss.

My go to shampoo and conditioner treatment is Olaplex which is hands down my favourite products for my hair. I also use the hair mask treatment from them too. Olaplex is such a popular product and is sold in various steps with new products being added to the range all the time. The ingredients in these products help to repair broken bonds for sleeker, healthier looking hair. I use number 3 which is the hair mask, followed by number 4 - shampoo and number 5 - the conditioner. It has made such a difference to the condition of my hair since I get it bleached and it is dry especially in this lockdown.

If I am not using my Olapex range then I tend to use L'Oreal products, as these are so affordable and they have some amazing hair care treatments. I have been reaching for L'Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil More Than Shampoo for dry hair followed by the product so many are raving about which is L'Oreal's Wonder Water. L'Oreal's More Than Shampoo has a hair mask consistency which was strange at first as I am so used to shampoo's that lather faster, but this gives such a deep cleanse which is what my hair has been screaming out for. L'Oreal's Wonder Water is a game changer. It works in 8 seconds, again at first it seemed strange to use as it is a liquid conditioner and I have been used to cream conditioners. This has made my hair so much sleeker and smoother. Both products combined have made my hair more manageable since I have not been able to have it treated or cut for a while.

As I bleach my hair blonde, I want to ensure my hair stays away from those horrible brassy tones and seeing as I have not been able to get to the hairdresser for a refresh I have been using Kerastase Blond Absolu Masque Ultra Violet Treatment. This is simply amazing and knocks out the brassiness and my hair seems bright and blonde again even if my roots are horrendous haha! I use this once a week to try and retrieve that salon worthy gloss.

Another product that has been saving my hair in lockdown are the L'Oreal Oils and Serums. Once I have washed my hair I apply one of these to give my hair that added treat. The Summer Saviour Hair Oil has helped so much with the dryness and instantly nourishes my dry ends. The Frizz Killer Serum helps with my dry wispy hair and smoothes and tames it ready to style. The Miracle Hair Perfector gives my hair luxurious shine without leaving it greasy. I go between all three of these each time I wash my hair. All have been amazing to my hair at a time when it's needed it the most. Now I'm just counting down till my next appointment. Bring it on!

What products have you been using in lockdown for your hair care routine?

  1. While selecting a salon, you must consider a hygienic and well-managed salon. If a particular salon appears to be very dirty or in disarray, you shouldn't go there. beverly hills hair salon
